A Message from Our Pastor
Dear Fellow Redeemed,
Have you noticed any leaves changing color yet? It hardly seems possible, but I did see some summac that looks far-too-red already! These indications of the progression of seasons reminds us that time keeps moving forward--forward to the return of Jesus Christ and the final consumation of all that He has done for us.
Already when God created the sun and moon and stars, a part of His purpose for them was to "serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years" (Gen 1:14). Already at the beginning of time, God determined to do many things to point us to Him and His desire to live in relationship with us (see St. Paul's words in Acts 17:22-31, especially verses 27-28).
Living in a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ is something that God Himself initiates and brings to completion in those who hear and believe the Gospel--the message that Jesus lived and died for us sinners in order to reconcile us to God (see 2Cor 5:14--6:2). God does this work by means of the Gospel in Word and Sacrament. As we receive God's grace in Christ through the preached Word, through Baptism, through Holy Communion, God draws us into a relationship with Him. We are forgiven for the sake of Christ; we are blessed to live a new and abundant life in Him.
Won't you join us to experience this new and eternal and blessed relationship with Jesus, the Savior? We invite you to our celebration of the Divine Service any Sunday at 8:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. or on Wednesday eveings at 7:00 through Aug. 25. You may also view recent services from this Web site [Recent Services].
On Sundays you can also enjoy a cup of coffee and a roll in our Family Center at 9:15 a.m. Starting on Sept. 12 I will be teaching "Adult Catechesis," a ten-week course which will prepare you for membership at Trinity, if you so desire. We also offer Sunday school for children of all ages from 9:15--10:15 a.m. each week.
In Christ,
Pastor Tim Vaughan
