Frequently Asked Questions

In 1980, Trinity Lutheran Church prayerfully embarked on yet another mission to bring the Gospel to the St. Francis community and strengthen the faith and knowledge of our Savoir, Jesus Christ, in the people within the church – that mission was to begin a Christian Day School for students in grades kindergarten through eight.

Some in our community may ask, "Why should a church go through the problem and expense of an school when other schools in the community are available?" This is certainly a valid question – one that deserves an answer. That answer is found in many places in the Holy Bible: "These things which I command you – teach them diligently to your children." (Deut. 6:6-7). "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6). Our Savior, Jesus Himself, remarked that we should have the little children come to Him and not forbid them, for of such is the Kingdom of God. We have God’s command to instruct our children in His Truth. He also promises blessings on our efforts. Christian parents train their children in many ways – one successfully proven way is through a Lutheran School such as Trinity Lutheran School.

The following questions are often asked about Lutheran Schools such as Trinity:

  1. What kind of religious instruction will my child receive?

  1. Trinity Lutheran School bases all of its teaching on the Bible. What is stated in the Scripture is true; what is not stated cannot be taught as doctrine. The cornerstone of our faith an doctrine is that Jesus, true God and true man, suffered, died, and rose for the sins of all people. Anyone who trusts in Him that He lived and died so that their sins will be forgiven, will inherit eternal life as a gift. One cannot enter heaven by his own works or even partly by his works.
After three years of confirmation instruction, religious instruction in grades 6, 7 & 8, students may become confirmed members in Trinity Lutheran Church. Should any student who is a member of a different church not desire to become a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he need not be confirmed. All students, however, will be required to receive religious instruction in class at all grade levels as part of the overall curriculum.

  1. Will my child receive as good an academic education at Trinity as in other schools?

  1. Yes. There are slightly over 1900 Lutheran Schools in the United States. Research shows that students in Lutheran Schools achieve even higher academically than most schools. Lutheran Schools (and Trinity) take the same achievement tests as the public system. We are confident that as the years progress, God will bless Trinity school in the same way. The achievement test results of Trinity show high academic achievement. Also, Trinity students transferring into our local high school have done very well.

  1. Do qualified teachers teach at Trinity?

  1. Yes. Teachers at Trinity graduate from our Lutheran Teachers Colleges which are certified as teacher training institutions. All teachers are certified by the State Board of Education of Minnesota. The Principal has a Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

  1. How about transportation?

  1. The School District, as required by law, provides transportation for our students to and from school. Kindergarten parents provide transportation, many by car pools, either to or from school. The School District provides kindergarten transportation to school for the morning session and to the home for the afternoon session.

  1. Are there extra-curricular activities?

  1. Yes. In the first several years of existence, Trinity School began a band program, choir program, and athletic program consisting of boys’ and girls’ basketball, girls’ cheerleading, boys’ and girls’ volleyball, track and field, softball, and soccer.

  1. Can our students transfer into another school with little or no difficulty?

  1. Yes. The public or private schools accept our students where Trinity places them when they transfer. Trinity also operates the same way when receiving students.

  1. How are subjects taught at Trinity?

  1. All subjects are taught from a Christian point of view in a Christ-centered environment. As an example, our students are taught that God created all things in six days and that evolution is incorrect. All issues, such as moralities, use of language, etc., are taught from the viewpoint of God’s Holy Scripture and that this Scripture is completely correct.

  1. How are students viewed at Trinity?

  1. Each student is treated as a child of God – he/she is precious in God’s eyes. All children are taught with this in mind. Communication between school and home is extremely important. When the home needs to be aware of circumstance, the teacher will contact the home. There will be times when a child needs to be disciplined – we are all in need of Christ’s forgiveness. When necessary, the child is disciplined in love, with the Cross of Christ always in sight.

  1. How much will it cost to send my child to Trinity School?

  1. See Tuition schedule. There will be a few other costs, like payments for milk, hot lunch, and an activity fee.

  1. May I visit Trinity School and see it in action?

  A. Certainly.

If you want to consider enrolling your child at Trinity, please do come and visit school so that you may see first hand the school and its operation. Also, please feel free to call the Principal, Mr. William Dunk, at school (763-753-1234) or at home (763-753-4474) for further information about the school and/or to arrange for an appointment to discuss all aspects of Trinity School.
